Join Prof. Efraín Agosto and his Religion and Politics in Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Diaspora (LATS 253) class for a conversation with historian Jorell Meléndez-Badillo on his recent collaboration with music artist Bad Bunny. Meléndez-Badillo is an Assistant Professor of Latin American and Caribbean History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the author of Puerto Rico: A National History (Princeton University Press, 2024). His highly acclaimed book informed the historical elements of Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS [I Should’ve Taken More Photos] (Rimas Entertainment, 2025). For the artist’s sixth album, Meléndez-Badillo created 17 visualizers that feature historical notes, highlighting different eras, from the 1500s to the present day, and figures in Puerto Rico’s political and social justice past.
